ITS Web Hosting Features

Below is a description of the many features available with our hosting plans. For technical descriptions of how some of these features work, look at our Hosting Support page.

99.9% Uptime Guarantee
A customer's Web site will be up and available at least 99.9% of the time in any given calendar month, or the customer will receive his or her next month's Web hosting services for free. Please see our Uptime Guarantee page for details.
30 Day Money Back Guarantee
Each of ITS's web hosting plans carries a 30 day money back guarantee. If you are not completely satisfied with our services within the first 30 days of your contract, you will be given a full refund of the contract amount excluding setup fees. Please see our Refund Policy for details. SharePoint and Exchange annual accounts are subject to a two-month early termination fee.
Anonymous FTP
Anonymous FTP is not supported on most plans. Generally HTTP downloads are a better solution.
Autoresponders
An autoresponder will send an automated reply to an incoming e-mail. For example, an autoresponder could be used to send a standard text file to persons addressing info@yourdomain.com or sales@yourdomain.com, or as a notice that a user is on vacation.
CGI script support
All web sites have a cgi-bin directory for custom CGI scripts. CGI scripts are often used to accomplish tasks which are not supported by basic HTML, such as custom form processing.
Control Panel
All accounts have access to a Control Panel which allows one to manage email accounts, view site statistics, change your password and more.
Data Transfer
In general, any outward-bound traffic from a Web site, with the exception of e-mail, is considered as data transfer. For example, each time a Web page, image, video file, etc. is downloaded, data transfer is generated. Each of our plans includes a generous amount of free data transfer which should be more than enough for most sites. In fact, 99% of our customers operate within their free data transfer allowance. Additional data transfer beyond the threshold may incur a small charge or necessitate a hosting acount upgrade.
Disk Storage Space
Disk storage space refers to the amount of server disk storage specifically allocated to your account. This space is used to store your html files, graphics, audio clips, email messages, PDFs, and other files that make up your web site. Each of our plans includes a generous allotment of disk storage space, but additional space can be purchased if desired.
Domain Name Registration
Our Web hosting accounts allow you to have your own Web address or "domain name" (eg: www.yourname.com). We can handle most domain name registrations or transfers on your behalf. You can now register your domain name with ITS for just $24per year. This represents a savings of up to 40% off Network Solutions' rates. If your domain is registered elsewhere this annual fee does not apply.

We can also host non-U.S. domain names as well once they are registered with another registrar. We can provide you with the appropriate nameserver and technical contact information to assist you in registering a domain name yourself and pointing it to our servers.

FrontPage
Microsoft discontinued support for FrontPage after FrontPage 2003 and we no longer support it.
FTP Access

Accounts have unlimited access via FTP 24-hours a day to set up and maintain your Web site. You can work on HTML documents, graphics, and scripts locally, then upload files to your Web site when ready.

Note ITS only supports secure FTP...SFTP or FTP over TLS.

Our Advanced Hosting accounts add the ability to have separate FTP accounts for users or clients.
Mail Forwarding

ITS supports email aliases that deliver to the same domain, or email forwards that deliver to users at other domains hosted by ITS.

ITS does not support and actively discourages forwarding email to external accounts. Often forwarded messages violate SPF/Sender ID/DKIM/DMARC causing the message to be detected as faked, and causing your mail server to be detected as the source of the spam/faked message.
MySQL Database Server
MySQL is a lightweight database engine designed to provide fast access to stored data. We provide the tools to create a searchable database. In most instances, custom programming (commonly Perl or PHP) is needed to implement a fully functional Web-to-database interface.
POP Accounts
Accounts can configure POP3 mailboxes on the mail server via the control panel, and download messages using an e-mail program such as Outlook or Windows Mail.
SSL Secure Server

SSL (Secure Socket Layer) allows users to collect data, such as credit card information, in a secure environment. Information submitted via a secure form is sent to the server in an encrypted mode. Users may choose to research methods such as encrypted e-mail (PGP), CyberCash, or other solution for retrieving such information from their Web sites. All web servers have a shared certificate references the server name instead of your domain name. Clients can purchase their own certificate.

For maximum compatibility with older browsers and computers a dedicated IP address is required, however for example Windows 7 and later with recent Internet Explorer versions will support Server Name Indication (SNI) which allows a secure connection over a shared IP address.
Statistics
ITS provides a choice of AWStats or Webalizer statistics packages to track your web site usage statistics, such as what domains are accessing your site, how many "hits" you are getting, what pages visitors view, data transfer, and more. In addition, we give you direct access to your raw log files so you can analyze your statistics with other programs, or view web site errors.
Web Mail
Web Mail allows users with email accounts to log in from any web browser to read, reply to, send, and manage e-mail from an easy-to-use interface. The default address for it is webmail.(yourdomain).com.
