3CX: Our Favorite Tips
As the 3CX phone system grows in popularity across our client base, we thought we'd share a few tips on using it more effectively!
Stay In Contact
- In the web client/Desktop App, add your cell number to Settings/General/Mobile to allow co-workers to right click to dial you from the Team page in the software clients.
- This also allows easy forwarding via Settings/Call Forwarding..."Forward calls to: My Mobile."
- A physical phone is not required.
- A physical phone can be made portable, if set up correctly, so it can be taken home.
- Quickly message co-workers via the software clients' Chat feature.
- Meetings can be scheduled as a video meeting or even a webinar, in addition to a conference call.
Share Your Status
- Status messages can have messages visible to other staff.
- Settings/View/Show Unregistered Extensions makes offline co-workers appear on the Team page.
- Statuses can be set with a timer, so you don't accidentally leave yourself on DND.
- When configuring a status that allows calls, check Also Ring My Mobile to call your cell number even if you don't have the 3CX mobile app installed.
- When configuring a status that allows calls, uncheck Accept PUSH Notifications to avoid ringing your 3CX mobile app.
Remain In Control
- The web client/Desktop App ringer can be disabled.
- The web client/Desktop App can set the ringer and voice audio outputs to different output devices.
- The web browser/Desktop App can be set to make calls via the mobile app or desk phone, so one can easily paste numbers into the dialer, but call out using a different device.
- Multiple mobile phone apps can configure the same extension, and link/unlink on demand, which works well for handing off after-hours/on-call requests.
