What's New: Vista SP1 To Start Rolling Out In March
Microsoft will release Service Pack 1 (SP1) to the public in mid-March, but some PC owners won't be able to install it. Microsoft has identified a selection of device drivers that do not behave properly in SP1, and has released SP1 early to PC manufacturers so they can update their drivers. The public will be able to download SP1 in mid-March via Microsoft's web site or Windows Update, and it will be installed automatically via Windows Update in mid-April for PCs that have that setting enabled. However, PCs that have problem drivers will not see SP1 in Windows Update until they upgrade said drivers.
