What's New: Spare Batteries Banned From Airplanes
Effective January 1, the U.S. DOT has banned users from packing spare lithium laptop batteries in checked baggage. The new rules allow users to bring spare batteries in carry-on luggage if they are enclosed in a plastic bag. Also, travelers are limited to two larger "extended-life" batteries.
