What's New: FTC: P2P Data Leaks At 100 Firms
The Federal Trade Commission has sent letters to 100 companies warning them of confidential data from their networks being shared on peer to peer (P2P) file sharing networks. An FTC investigation found many examples of health-related information, financial records, drivers license and Social Security numbers being shared publicly. Most likely this is the result of either malware infections or employees that have installed P2P file sharing software and inadvertently shared company data files.
