What's New: Google Settles Click Fraud Case for $90 Million
Google announced Wednesday that it will pay $90 million to settle a lawsuit alleging overcharging for advertising due to "click fraud." Click fraud is the term for what happens when users, maliciously or otherwise, click advertisement links numerous times in a row. Given their pay-per-click model, the suit alleged Google would charge the advertiser for the bogus clicks. The settlement provides advertising credits for alleged offenses dating back to 2002.
Yahoo! was also named in the suit but intends to fight the allegations.
