What's New: Intel Announces Quad-Core CPUs
Intel plans to ship quad-core CPUs in November. Historically a CPU, or computer processor, had only one "core" which means it could only perform one task at a time. Recently AMD and Intel have been using dual-core CPUs which can literally perform two computations at the same time. A four-core CPU would raise that to four computations, providing even smoother multitasking.
