What's New: Microsoft Plans 64-bit Office 12
On the heels of the launch of 64-bit versions of Windows Server 2003 and Windows XP Professional, Microsoft has confirmed plans for a 64-bit version of Office 12, the successor to Office 2003. Microsoft says the 64-bit version will ship "sometime after" the 32-bit version, expected out in 2006. This news further bolsters the AMD64 platform which has basically taken over the 64-bit x86 CPU arena from market leader Intel.
