What's New: AOL Is Now Free
AOL announced today that it will make its software free for broadband users, in a move to continue boosting ad revenue while their dial-up subscriber lists continues to decline. AOL will continue to offer dial-up service but will not aggressively market it any more. AOL's free services will include things like VoIP software that will allow free incoming calls.
AOL also says it has retained the e-mail addresses of subscribers that left AOL in the past two years, and will allow them to be reclaimed if the users sign up again.
