What's New: IBM Freezes CPU, Expects 400 Times Speedup
IBM has chilled an experimental CPU to -451 degrees F, just 8 degrees above absolute zero. They have run the chip at 500 GHz, or about 200 times the clock speed of today's PC chips. IBM says their models predict they can run up to 1000 GHz, or about 400 times current PC technology.
