Portable Wireless Hot Spot
ITS has learned of a new product that can provide a portable, car- or wall-powered hot spot to share Internet access at construction sites, temporary offices, or any areas without broadband. It takes advantage of the latest cellular technology to provide high speed communications with signal strength much higher than a PC Card cellular modem.
The small, lightweight device, designed locally, essentially combines a powerful celluar modem with a wireless access point and router. It might be driven to a construction site and left plugged in to the car's power jack, and would provide wireless Internet access for the surrounding area. It can even be used this way while traveling, for passengers in the car, or for a family vacationing in their RV or boat.
