Why should I run LiveUpdate myself if it checks automatically?
For those clients using a Symantec program like Norton AntiVirus, you probably have LiveUpdate configured to download new virus definitions automatically. So why run LiveUpdate manually as well?
The answer is that the automatic check only checks for new virus defintions. However manually running LiveUpdate checks for updates to the program itself. For Norton AntiVirus that may mean compatibility fixes; for Norton Internet Security it updates the filters, parental controls, and other settings.
