What does "broadband" mean?
Broadband is a term that refers to high speed Internet connections. The highest speed modem connection will max out at around 45 kbps (kilobits per second), while the slowest DSL connections provide 144 kbps, over three times faster. "Broad" therefore simply refers to the size of the "pipe" used to deliver the Internet connection. Typically broadband is associated with multimedia technologies such as streaming radio and video connections that involve large amounts of data.
