What's New: Microsoft Drops XP Support for IE9
Microsoft confirmed this week that Internet Explorer 9 will not run on Windows XP or Windows Server 2003. Almost ten years old, Windows XP does not support the newer graphics APIs that are present in Windows 7 and were added to Windows Vista and Windows 2008, and Microsoft plans to use those programming interfaces to speed up the display of web pages. Instead, we recommend users with Windows XP shift to newer browsers such as Mozilla's Firefox for longer-term support.
