What's New: Intel Snaps Up McAfee for $7.68 Billion
Intel agreed to purchase antivirus and security software vendor McAfee for just under $7.7 billion. Intel will pay $48 per share in an all-cash deal, 60% above McAfee's closing stock price from Wednesday. Renée James, Intel senior VP, said, "Hardware-enhanced security will lead to breakthroughs in effectively countering the increasingly sophisticated threats of today and tomorrow." Intel believes security will continue to become a much bigger part of computing, in both hardware and software.
